August News

BEREA: VBS was June 27th-July 1st. Annual church picnic/lake outing was July 4th. Summer small groups began July 7th. Youth mission trip to Red Springs was July 12-17th. Senior adult day trip to SC will be July 29th.

BETHEL: In July, youth went to Carowinds and did local mission projects. Kids’ Day Out was July 12 & 26th. Church-wide cook-out was held July 17th. Bethel’s 150th celebration was July 18th.

BEULAH: Ladies’ night out was July 12th, and Bible study/breakfast was July 17th. Men’s home repair project was June 17-19th. Youth went to Liberty University on July 19-23rd. VBS was July 25-30th.  VBS in Wheelwright, KY, will be July 31st. Rafting trip will be Aug. 5-6th. Community revival services will be Aug. 15-19th. Financial Peace University will begin on Aug. 22nd.

BLAISE: MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) will begin meeting on Sept. 17th on the first and third Fridays from 9:30–11:45 a.m. During meetings, children are cared for in a program called MOPPETS. Call 336-345-9711 for more information.

CORNERSTONE: Heart of a Sportsman Ministry held a bazaar on July 17th to raise funds for mission projects.

COVE: There are 120 girls involved in the Cove Church Christian dance team ministry, In His Steps. In July, Cove hosted a film shoot for an upcoming Christian movie, Pendulum Swings, which was followed by a concert by Hartman, the faith-based husband/wife duo featured in the movie. 

CRYSTAL WATERS: VBS was June 21-25th. Church-wide cook-out with games and activities was Sunday night, July 4.

DIAMOND HILL: Keenagers pool party was July 15th. Youth camp was July 18-22nd at GWU.

EAGLE HEIGHTS: VBS was June 27th-July 1st.

EATONS: The annual Independence Day celebration was held July 4th on the church lawn. Just Passing Through was in concert, and a cook-out followed the service.

EDGEWOOD: Homecoming was celebrated on July 18th with Rev. Ken Clark as speaker.

FAIRVIEW: Fireworks flag project was July 3rd. VBS promo night was July 7th. Senior adult 3-L club cook-out was July 9th. VBS was July 11-16th with an enrollment of 423 and 20 decisions! Youth drama team mission trip to Florida was July 24-31st. Youth go to Caswell on Aug. 2-7th.

FAITH: There were 18 decisions made during youth camp! Senior Pioneers enjoyed “American as Apple Pie Day” on July 16th. Pool party was July 17th. Licensing service for Tim Lowery and Chris Creason was July 25th. VBS kick-off will be July 31st at 6:30 p.m.  VBS will be Aug. 1-5th from 6:30-9:00 p.m. Uganda port-a-pit fund raiser will be Aug. 13th.

FALLSTOWN: VBS will be Aug. 1-6th with the Seaquest theme. Noah’s Ark Golf Tournament will be Sept. 25th.

FELLOWSHIP: Members will assist with VBS in Kentucky in July and in Peru in February 2011. Craft supplies are being collected.

FORK: VBS was June 21-25th with 222 enrolled and two salvations! Youth went to Caswell on June 28th-July 3rd. GA Day was July 10th. Senior Adult Sunday was July 11th. Youth mission trip to Jacksonville, FL, was July 11-17th. Homecoming will be Aug. 8th with Rev. Bob Hiatt as speaker. Mission trip to Franklin, NC, will be Aug. 8-14th. “Sisters” will be in concert on Aug. 15th at 6:30 p.m. followed by a watermelon fellowship. The 7th annual egg toss/homemade ice cream social will be Aug. 29th. Children’s summer musical is also the 29th.

FRONT STREET: VBS enrolled 115 children with two decisions! Annual family picnic was June 27th at the church. Older children volunteered at the Pregnancy Resource Center on June 30th. Youth mission trip to Red Springs was June 28th-July 3rd. Sunday School socials were held July 11th. Children prepared gifts for My Sisters House on July 14th. Youth went to Crossroads Camp on July 18-22nd. Middle school mission trip was July 25-31st.

GRACE FELLOWSHIP: Backyard Bible Club was June 27-July 1st with 52 children/youth enrolled. Youth retreat was July 1-2nd with 15 youth present. Church-wide cook-out was July 4th following worship. Baptism at the lake was July 18th followed by a dessert fellowship. Youth will go to Wet & Wild Water Park on Aug. 21st. End of summer event will be Aug. 29th. Beth Moore simulcast will be Sept. 18th.

IJAMES: VBS enrolled 80 children in June. Homecoming will be observed Aug. 8th. Revival services will be Aug. 8-11th. On Aug. 29th, the Inner Rhythm Choir will sing, and a church-wide cook-out will follow the service.

JERUSALEM: Youth mission trip was in July. Church-wide ice cream social was July 25th. Homecoming will be observed on Aug. 15th with Rev. Allen Mullins as guest speaker; special music will be provided by Second Generation.

MISIO’N BAUTISTA: Medical missionary trip to Mexico was July 18-24th.

MOCKSVILLE FIRST: Young at Heart went to Cody Creek on July 29th. VBS was July 11-14th.

MONTICELLO: Seniors went to Scottie’s Restaurant for breakfast on June 1st. WOM prepared flowers for shut-ins. VBS was held the week of June 27th.

MOORESVILLE FIRST: Patriotic musical was presented June 27th. Children’s choir camp was June 21-25th with 60 enrolled. Mission trip to John’s Island, SC, was July 10-17th. VBS was July 25-29th.

NEW HOPE: Graduates were honored on May 23rd. Rev. Ron Harrison was guest speaker on May 30th. Children’s Church presented special gifts for Father’s Day on June 20th. VBS was July 16-18th.

OAKDALE: Pizza blast/VBS registration was July 11th. VBS was July 12-16th. Youth led worship on July 18th for Youth Sunday.

PENINSULA: Soccer camp was June 28-July 2nd. Chinese ministry class was July 2nd. Members participated in the community choir at Lowe’s YMCA on July 3rd. Outdoor movie night was July 9th. Alexander Luke was guest speaker on July 11th. Older children’s camp was July 12-14th. Western round-up was July 17th. VBS was July 18-22nd with a parenting seminar for adults. Family Missions Weekend at Ridgecrest will be Aug. 19-21st.

SOCIETY: Youth went to camp and Young at Heart went to Meadows of Dan in June. Baptist Men did building projects at the Davie Pregnancy Center in June. VBS carnival was July 11th with a festival and wagon train rides. Baptist Women had a salad supper on July 22nd and toured the Dove House. Church-wide ice cream social will be Aug. 15th.

SOUTH RIVER: Youth went to the Freedom Worship Celebration in Asheville on July 2nd, and youth led worship on Sunday night, July 11th. Youth summer camp was July 17-21st. Fund raiser lunch for Brazil trip was July 18th.

SOUTHSIDE: Preschoolers provided doughnuts for dads on June 20th. Special ministries camp day was June 26th. Senior adults went to Boone on June 29th. Chaplain Colonel Larry McCarty was guest speaker on July 4th. GA camp was July 5-9th. Baptismal service was July 11th; Cuba mission trip report was that evening followed by  an ice cream/dessert social. VBS will be Aug. 8-12th.

STATESVILLE FIRST: VBS was June 28th-July 2nd with three salvations! Over 320 were enrolled, and ten Bibles were given to children who did not have one in their home. Family celebration/hot dog supper was July 1st. Youth mission trip to New Orleans was July 11-17th. Jubilee Sunday was July 25th; those 90 years and older were honored in the service and with a luncheon. Children’s music camp was July 26-30th. In May, 425 food boxes were given out.

TRINITY: Youth held an “old timey dessert auction” on May 30th raising over $2,200 for summer mission trip. Graduation Sunday was June 6th. End-of-year luncheon was provided for staff of LNES on June 11th. A 24-passenger bus was purchased on June 13th. A contract has been signed for the purchase of 12 acres of land on Ervin Road, Mooresville, for the future site of Trinity Baptist. VBS was June 26th with the theme Fire Fighters.

TROUTMAN: There were 324 enrolled in VBS; 757 cans of food were given for the Food Pantry. Youth beach trip was June 28th-July 2nd. College/career mission trip to NYC was July 10-17th. Youth went to S. Mountain Camp on July 11-16th. Youth mission trip was July 24-31st. GA’s and RA’s went to S. Mountain Camp on July 25-30th. Homecoming will be Aug. 8th with Dr. J. B. Parker, Jr., as speaker. GA’s collected school supplies for children in Kentucky.

TURRENTINE: Pastor Scott & Jessica Schuyler hosted a social at their home  on May 30th. Youth enjoyed “Sonfest” at Carowinds on June 12th.

WATERMARK: Members participated in the Troutman parade on July 3rd and handed out bottled water. Baptism of four believers was July 11th at the YMCA. End-of-year camping trip will be Aug. 19-21st. Back-to-school Bash will be Aug. 22nd. Baptism at Windemere will be Aug. 29th at 6:30 p.m. Watermark will host Troutman Ride & Stride for Juvenile Diabetes on Sept. 12th.

WESTERN AVENUE: VBS was June 21-25th. Zootastic Family Day was July 8th. A new hand bell ministry has begun. July 27th was ice cream night for Toolin’ in Town ministry. Congratulations to Rev. & Mrs. Philip McGaha on the birth of their daughter, Alexa Rae, in July.

WESTWOOD: VBS will be Aug. 8-11th with the theme Saddle Ridge Ranch for ages 3-12 years from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

YADKIN: Fifteen members went to Utah to help build a church on July 1-11th. Senior Saints picnic at Lakewood Park was July 15th.
